About

A reference, not an opinion

What this site is

Gun.Legal is a directory. For each of the 50 states we link the statutes, the permit and licensing authority, and the state agency that administers firearm regulation. Alongside those links we list attorneys who take firearm cases in that state.

Our sourcing standard

Every law link points to a government source — a legislature, state police, bureau of investigation, or attorney general. We do not paraphrase statutes, score states, or publish "what you can carry" summaries, because those go stale and mislead. If we cannot confirm an official URL for something, we leave it off rather than guess.

State pages do not cover city or county ordinances, which are frequently stricter than state law.

How attorneys are listed

Listings are curated and published manually. Firms do not appear automatically, and placement is not an endorsement, rating, or guarantee of any outcome. Verify any attorney's license and standing with the relevant state bar before you retain them.

Legal disclaimer

This site provides general information only. It is not legal advice and must not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney. Using this site, submitting a listing, or contacting a firm through a link here does not create an attorney-client relationship with us or with any listed firm. Firearm law changes frequently at federal, state, and local levels, and information here may be out of date. You are responsible for confirming current law through the official sources linked on each state page.
